I just want to hear what other people have to say about him because I am writing an essay about what people thought about him and his artworks.
out of all the renaissance artists i like michealangelo’s style the best. he shows his figures as muscular but yet graceful. the depiction of god on the sistine chapel roof is a perfect example of this. god is shown to be very physically strong to convey his power and yet he gracefully flies about.
his sculpture of david really shows his skill with working with the medium. the marble that he used had a very large fault that ran through it and no one was able to carve it for years untill michealangelo came about. the moment depicted is the moment right before he casts the stone out of the sling. it is a very intense pshycological moment.
this use of the moment before the climax of a story really make michealangelo’s work powerful. just turn to the image on the sisteen chappel where god creates man by touching his finger to bring life into him. it is the moment right before everything begins. it is the hieght of suspense.
