Assyrian relief sculptures from Mesopotamia?

Write a short paragraph that describes how either Assyrian relief sculptures from Mesopotamia OR Egyptian tomb sculptures reflect the beliefs of those cultures. In your description, include details of artistic conventions, including how artists included details such as:

• the function or purpose of the artwork
• size and scale of artwork
• body proportions
• body pose or placement within a scene

Assyrian relief sculptures were used in ancient times for a variety of reasons and were particularly being based on propaganda and story telling. Sculpting artwork larger than life size forms weren’t unusual to the Ancient Assyrians. Large statues of Winged Bulls that were paraded around the entrance of their capitol Nineveh; in which the Ancient Assyrians reffered to as “Lamassu” could be anything from 14″ – 16″ tall to larger colossal sizes. Assyrian releifs usually portray the body facing from a side view rather than posing in an up-front view.
