Africa, with over 30.2 million square kilometres of area, is the world’s second largest continent, with only Asia being larger. Many of the world’s best natural attractions can be found on this huge continent. These magnificent attractions scattered in various African countries draw millions of tourists from around the world. The Table Mountains
Found in Cape Town, in South Africa, are the Table Mountains, called so because of their flat top. The Table Mountains are 1086m above sea level, and overlook False Bay, the legendary Robben Island, and the Table Mountain National Park. The Table Mountains are considered to be national monuments to South Africa. Weather permitting the mountains can be reached on a cable car. However for those more interested in adventure, it’s possible to go rock climbing at the Table Mountains, or visit the biodiverse national park.

The Great Migration
Between the months of July to October is the Great Migration, also known as the masai mara migration, and it’s a spectacle well worth seeing. The migration sees over 1.5 million browsers largely wildebeests cross the crocodile infested Mara River from the Serengeti to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. So thrilling is the migration that it’s been named the Seventh Wonder of the World. The wildebeests are recently calved, making this journey in search of greener pastures, one that is especially treacherous. In order to capture the full experience of the migration, lodges located in the Mara triangle offer some of the best views. 

Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls in Zambezi River are shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe    . The falls are some of the largest and most spectacular natural wonders in the world. The Victoria Falls are an incredible 1708 metres wide, and fall to a depth of between 90 and 107 metres, plunging over 500,000 cubic metres of water every minute. The falls wowed the explorer David Livingstone in 1860s have been named as World Heritage Site, the waters are also terrifying as they are a habitat for hippos and crocodiles on the upstream.  

The Great Sphinx
Egypt has the Great Sphinx at Giza Plateau on the West Bank; it is a statue of a mystical creature with a lion’s body and a human head. At 73.5 metres it’s the largest monolith statue in the world and the oldest known monumental sculpture; it’s believed to have been built by the ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom in the reign of Pharaoh Khafra. The Sphinx has been estimated to be between about 4568 and 4542 years old.

Mt Kilimanjaro
For those interested in a safari to Tanzania, consider climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. The tallest of Africa’s mountains, and also the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, Mt Kilimanjaro reaches 5893m at its summit. For those who wish to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, there are six routes, the easiest are Rongai and Marangu, both of which have huts on the way for weary travelers to rest, but the most scenic and steepest rout is Machame, which takes 6 to 7 days to climb.
